REFLECTIONS ON OMDE603 COURSE MATERIALS

Topic:    Open Educational resources:


  • open content/resources is argued  to be different from open learning.
  • Some distance education experts think that OER initiative is being abused for self-benefit  by some universities (Bates, 2011)
  • There is the view that OER activities at the moment lack proper structure that encourage learning.

    I agree, the topic of OER is very interesting! Do you agree that OER are being abused by some universities? I would like to see more about how the material is being abused, or how the universities are gaining from publishing OER. I still think that the value in OER will come from how they are utilized. It would be great to see underprivileged institutions or K-12 utilizing the materials that normally could not attained in their classrooms, and the universities or authors releasing the material aiming the knowledge at this audience.

    Do you agree that the OER available today is unstructured?
